Diplomats School Profs

The Rowan Profs issued Franklin & Marshall’s women’s lacrosse team its first road test of the season on Thursday. Spurred on by a dominant defense, the No. 1 Diplomats (3-0) passed with flying colors, picking up a 14-4 win over Rowan (1-1). (more)

WLAX Notes: #1 F&M (2-0) at Rowan (1-0)

Today’s game marks the 16th meeting between the two schools in a series that began in 1995. Rowan won the initial meeting, played in Lancaster, 10-8. F&M owns a 10-5 lead in the series and has won each of the last three meetings, and eight of the last nine. Seven of the games have been played in Glassboro with the Diplomats holding a 5-2 edge. F&M won 15-8 in the last trip to Rowan on March 4, 2008. Rowan’s last win over F&M on their home turf was a 15-12 win on April 21, 2006, their most recent victory in the series. The two teams have gone to overtime twice, with F&M coming away with the win on both occasions. (more)

Diplomats Muzzle Bulldogs

No. 1 Franklin & Marshall used a stifling defense and a balanced attack to hand Adrian College (Mich.) a 15-5 defeat in women’s lacrosse on Tuesday. Seven different Diplomats (2-0) found the net, while F&M’s steady defense and goalkeeping left the Bulldogs (1-2) on the short end of the chain. (more)

Defending Champs Don’t Skip a Beat

Three different Diplomats tallied hat tricks to lead No. 1 Franklin & Marshall to a 16-8 win over No. 16 Washington & Lee in the opening game of F&M’s second NCAA title defense. Senior attack, Blake Hargest gave the Diplomats (1-0) an early boost, and left the Generals (2-2) playing catch-up the rest of the way. (more)

Defending Champs Picked Second in CC

The defending NCAA National Champions in women’s lacrosse were picked to finish second in the Centennial Conference (CC) by the league’s head coaches when the 2009 CC poll was released on Tuesday afternoon. (more)

Franklin & Marshall opens 2010 on top of poll

The Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall, the 2009 NCAA Champions, open the 2010 season where they ended the last—on top of the polls. The Dips took 15 of the 20 first-place votes to nip 2009 runner-up Salisbury for the top spot in the rankings. The Sea Gulls, who earned three first-place votes, come in at second, while F&M’s conference rival Gettysburg received two top votes and starts off in third in the poll. (more)

A two-time All-America choice and three-time Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Metro Region First Team selection for the Diplomats, Lauren Paul ’03, became the 10th women’s lacrosse coach in the program’s history in September, 2008.
