Jones Makes Final Tryout

Robyn Jones ’06 was invited to attend the Philadelphia Independence’s final tryout. The Independence is an expansion professional women’s soccer team in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league. The WPS started in 2009 and will begin its second year in April. (more)

F&M Alums Bend it With Beckham

As the 2010 World Cup draws nearer, the soccer world’s attention is shifting to South Africa. With the British making a play for the 2018 World Cup, Campbell Memorial Field, built in honor of the late F&M soccer player, Christopher Campbell, has seen recent visits from David Beckham and Dr. Nicola Brewer, the British High Commissioner in South Africa. Twenty-Seven Diplomats Named to Academic Honor Roll

Twenty-seven Diplomats have been named to the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in at least 50% of his or her team’s contests, be a sophomore or higher and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40. Diplomats Blanked in Season Finale

The Franklin & Marshall women’s soccer team was shutout 4-0 at Swarthmore on Saturday night. The Centennial Conference (CC) loss closes out the season for F&M. (more)

Mules Down Diplomats

Renee Dessimone’s goal late in the second half stood proved to be the game-winner as Muhlenberg defeated Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer game. The Diplomats fall to 3-14 (1-8 CC) while the Mules improve to 10-5 (7-1 CC). (more)

Sarah Montminy’s two assists led the Red Devils to a 3-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer game. Dickinson improves to 12-2 (5-2 CC) while the Diplomats fall to 3-13 (1-7 CC). (more)

Haverford Defeats Diplomats

Haverford’s Kate Van Aken’s early goal stood as the game-winner as the Fords defeated Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer game. (more)

Blue Jays Defeat Diplomats

Erica Suter’s two goals led #9 Johns Hopkins to a 3-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer game Wednesday evening. The Blue Jays improved to 11-2 (6-0 CC) while the Diplomats fall to 3-11 (1-5 CC). (more)

Diplomats Fall to McDaniel

Kelly Crawford’s goal in the 57th minute was the difference as McDaniel knocked off Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference women’s soccer match on Saturday afternoon. Her goal broke up a 1-1 tie early in the second half, allowing the Green Terror (3-8-1, 2-2 cc) to hang on for a 2-1 win. (more)

Patricia S.W. Epps, Director of Athletics and Recreation, has announced the hiring of former Messiah College women's soccer standout B.J. Atkins as the head women's soccer coach at Franklin & Marshall College. Atkins will take over for Steven O'Day, who retired after 11 years and posted the most coaching victories in women's soccer program history. Atkins, a 2006 graduate of Messiah, led the Falcons to four Commonwealth Conference Championships and three trips to the NCAA Final Four. A four-year starter, she garnered All-CC second team honors as a junior and helped Messiah produce an 81-4-6 record during her career. Atkins scored the game-winning goal in the 2005 Division III National Championship game for the Falcons first-ever NCAA title.
