2010 Softball Preview

The Franklin and Marshall softball team has plenty of optimism heading into the 2010 season, looking to improve upon last year’s 16-20, 4-12 CC record. (more)

Diplomats Drop Two at Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – In its 2010 season opener, the Franklin & Marshall softball team was swept by Eastern 7-5 and 13-7 in a non-conference double header Thursday afternoon. The Diplomats sit at 0-2 while the Eagles improve to 5-6. (more)

Beach Blast Cancelled

The 2010 Beach Blast softball tournament, with 29 teams set to compete at Princess Anne Park, has been cancelled due to wet conditions and lingering bad weather. This year's tournament field included teams from Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. (more)

Softball Winter Skills Clinic Cancelled

Franklin & Marshall’s softball clinic, scheduled for Saturday, February 13, has been cancelled. The heavy snow that has blanketed the Susquehanna Valley has forced the Diplomats’ spring teams indoors. They have been given priority for use of the training facilities. (more)

For F&M Softball, It’s Academic

When the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its list of 2008-2009 All-Academic teams late last week, Franklin & Marshall’s softball team ranked 36th in the country in Grade Point Average (GPA). The Diplomats, coached by then second-year skipper, Dr. Mike Cooperstein, posted a collective 3.27 GPA. (more)

Elfring Claims NCAA Statistical Title

The NCAA confirmed what opposing pitchers already knew, Caitlin Elfring, a rising senior at Franklin & Marshall College, was the nation’s toughest player to strike out in NCAA Division III in 2009 (more)

Incorvaia Named to Academic All-District II Second Team

Franklin & Marshall senior, Lauren Incorvaia was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Softball Team when it was announced Thursday morning. (more)

Incorvaia Named 2nd Team East All-Regional Catcher by NFCA

Lauren Incorvaia was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) East All-Regional 2nd Team on Tuesday. Last week Incorvaia became the 12th player to earn first-team All-Centennial honor three times, receiving the honor in 2006 and 2007. (more)

Incorvaia and Mancino Receive All-Centennial Honors

Two members of Franklin & Marshall’s softball team were named to the All-Centennial Conference Team when it was announced Thursday. Lauren Incorvaia (Manalapan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) was named to the league’s First Team and Jessika Mancino (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) received Honorable Mention. (more)

Franklin & Marshall College named Dr. Michael J. Cooperstein, D.M.D., of Broomall, Pa., its head softball coach in August of 2007. Cooperstein brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to Lancaster. On the collegiate level, Cooperstein spent five seasons (2001-2006) as an assistant at Saint Joseph's University. Two of those seasons were spent as the bench coach and hitting instructor, while the other three were spent overseeing the squad's pitchers and infielders.
