Diplomats Capture 2010 Title

Franklin & Marshall’s women entered the third and final night of the 2010 Centennial Conference Championships with an 11-point lead on Gettysburg, by night’s end, the lead was quadrupled, and the Diplomats had their third CC crown. It is the first title for F&M’s women in swimming since the 2005 season. (more)

Four Diplomats Named to CC Sportsmanship Team

Four Franklin & Marshall athletes have been named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team. Each Centennial Conference member institution was permitted to nominate one student from each winter program who exemplified the best in sportsmanship. Nominations were submitted by the athletic departments or head coaches. (more)

Women Positioned to Move

A strong Saturday morning has positioned Franklin & Marshall’s swimmers to move up in the standings on Saturday. The Diplomats placed 12 swimmers in the second championship final session of the 2010 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships, compared to first place Gettysburg’s 10, and second place Washington’s six. Despite a second disqualification, the Franklin & Marshall women have seized the lead two-thirds of the way through the 2010 Centennial Conference (CC) Swimming Championships. The Diplomats have an 11-point lead on the defending Champions, Gettysburg, heading into the third and final day of the meet. (more)

Women Start Strong

Franklin & Marshall is poised to make early noise at the 2010 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. At the end of Friday’s preliminary heats, the Diplomats’ women have six women swimming in three individual events, and have solid entries in the two relays slated for the evening session. (more)

Resilient Diplomats Third on Day One

Despite an early setback, Franklin & Marshall’s women are in third place after day one of the 2010 Centennial Conference (CC) championships. The Diplomats team was disqualified in the night’s opening race, the 200-yard freestyle relay, but bounced back with scoring depth to close the early gap in what is shaping up to be a three horse race. Diplomats Dodge Bullets

Franklin & Marshall won six of the first eight races, but it was a win in the final race that halted Gettysburg’s Centennial Conference (CC) dual meet winning streak at 20. The Diplomats (7-2, 7-0 CC) 110-95 victory was F&M’s first over the Bullets (8-2, 6-1 CC) in dual competition since 2007, and marks Gettysburg’s first Centennial loss in their new natatorium. The win also left the Diplomats unscathed in CC competition this season. (more)

Bob Rueppel

One of the most successful coaches in the history of Centennial Conference (CC) swimming, Rueppel has led the men's and women's swimming programs to eight CC Championships (out of a possible 16) in eight seasons. During his time at Franklin & Marshall, Rueppel has guided the swim teams to new heights. Highlights of his tenure include: Scholar All-American Honors in seven consecutive years; 45 individual athletes named to CC Academic Honor Roll; eight CC Championships; set 83 school records; set 55 CC records; 124 individual or relay CC Champions; 34 Division III All-Americans; Five CC Championship Meet Outstanding Performers; 3 National Champions.
