Alumni Sports & Fitness Center

Alumni Sports and Fitness Center
Built in 1995, the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center is a multipurpose athletic and recreation facility. It was the first athletic facility built on North Campus, where all of the College’s athletic facilities will be hosted. Commonly known as the ASFC, the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center includes a field house with a suspended indoor track, aquatics center and fitness center.

Facility Hours

Poorbaugh Fitness Center:
The 4,000 sq. ft. Poorbaugh Fitness Center, housed in the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center, offers a vast array of cardiovascular and strength equipment to the F&M community.  The long glass wall gives an expansive view of the second level jogging track and the field house courts below. The windows in the back of the room offer views of the Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Fitness Center was remodeled in July 2023 and outfitted with the latest line of strength and cardio equipment from Precor.

Schnader Field House:
The Schnader Field House at Franklin & Marshall’s Alumni Sports and Fitness Center (ASFC) measures 51,000 square feet, the ground floor is a composite of rubber and urethane, featuring a coarser surface that closely replicates an outdoor one and allows for the use of spikes up to an eighth of an inch for runners. The track has six lanes on the corner and eight on the straightaway, which is consistent for the indoor sport and easily places the facility among the top-five in Pennsylvania for track & field competition. Conduit was placed at the finish line to make it more accessible for timers and sets the facility up for a future built-in timing system.
Five indoor tennis courts provide a top-notch practice and competition location for the varsity sport, as well as serving as a practice location during times of inclement weather for multiple in-season teams. The area also can be configured to have five basketball courts, two volleyball courts, four badminton courts and a pair of batting cages.
The approximately 12,100 square feet suspended features a polyturf-plus system. The three jogging lanes on the upper track provide a much softer and more forgiving surface that is popular among runners and walkers, while the material on both the bottom and upper will help reduce the risk of sports-related injuries.

Diplomat Strength Center:
The Diplomat Strength Center is home for the Diplomat varsity athletic teams. In addition, it is available to the rest of the student body, faculty and staff members. The Diplomat Strength Center was remodeled in Summer, 2023.

Competing at the ASFC: Indoor Track & Field, Swimming, and Tennis.
