Philosophy
The Franklin & Marshall Faculty Athletic Mentor (FAM) program provides an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between intercollegiate athletics and the rigors of the academic experience at F&M. The program integrates academics and athletics to effectively work together to support the mission of the College. The partnership helps student-athletes balance their academic learning and athletic endeavors as both play an intrinsic role in the liberal arts education.Â
Objectives
- To enhance communication between faculty and students.
- To offer student-athletes and faculty members the opportunity to gain a greater appreciation for the educational mission and its application in intercollegiate athletics.
- To provide student-athletes with an additional opportunity to receive faculty mentoring.
- To allow faculty members an "inside look" at the responsibility that student-athletes must adopt to succeed – academically, personally and athletically.
