LANCASTER, PA -- Mihir Kapoor (Sr., Mumbai, India/Doon School), Satajit Seshadri (Fr., Chennai, India/Gill Adarsh) and George Edwards (So., Bryn Mawr, PA/Harriton) went 3-0 on the weekend without dropping a set to lead the Franklin & Marshall men's squash team to a 2-1 weekend with victories over Colby (8-1) and Vassar (9-0).
Versus Colby, the Diplomats jumped out in front as Kapoor, Seshadri and Edwards opened the match with straight set victories. Following a victory by Colby at #4, F&M's Hassan Ahmed (Sr., Toronto, Canada/Aitchison College) defeated Mark Biggar 3-0 (9-1, 9-5, 9-5) at #5 to get his team back on track as the Diplomats took the next four matches to take an 8-1 victory.
Against Vassar, Franklin & Marshall rolled to a 9-0 win behind the play of #6 Jake Van Roden (Sr., Villanova, PA/Bershire) and #9 Tom Kiefhaber (Jr., Cincinnatti, OH/Seven Hills Upper School) as the duo notched near perfect victories as Van Roden defeated Matt Curry 3-0 (9-0, 9-1, 9-0) and Kiefhaber downed Don Mauzy 3-0 (9-1, 9-0, 9-0).
In the third match of the weekend, the Diplomats fell to Williams College 6-3. Kapoor, Seshadri and Edwards all won in straight sets in the #1-3 matches, but the Ephs took the next six for the 6-3 victory.
Franklin & Marshall will return to the courts on January 25 when they travel to Annapolis, MD to face Trinity (CT) at the United States Naval Academy.
