STROUDSBURG, PA - East Stroudsburg Scott Heckman, Mark Smith and Sean McCracken recorded falls as the Warriors upended Franklin & Marshall 35-11 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) dual meet opener for both teams.

The trio of falls highlighted the evening for the Warriors (1-0) as East Stroudsburg avenged a 26-15 loss to Franklin & Marshall on December 3, 2003 in Lancaster. F&M's win marked the first over ESU since a 26-18 victory in 1987 as the Warriors had claimed 14 straight victories over the Diplomats entering the 2003 match. Historically, the Diplomats now stand improve to 9-23-1 all-time against East Stroudsburg as the two teams tied 20-20 in 1988.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as Robert Ramos claimed a victory by forfeit at 125 lbs. Richie Gebauer (Sr., South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) pulled the Diplomats to within two points at 6-4 as he earned an 8-0 major decision over Justin Altshul at 133 lbs.

However, Heckman (141) and Smith (149) posted back-to-back falls to push the margin out to 18-4. At 141, Heckman turned a 9-4 advantage in the second period into a fall at the 4:30 mark. He was followed by the quickest match of the night as Smith locked in a headlock immediately and posted a pin in 28 seconds to make it 18-4.

Again, F&M fought back as Mike Parziale (Jr., Woburn, MA/Woburn) won by major decision (13-2) over Keith Kleckner at 157 and Matt Veres (Jr., Phillipsburg, NJ/Blair Academy) recorded a 6-4 decision at 165 against Keith Smith to pull Franklin & Marshall to within 18-11 with four matches left to wrestle.

But the Warriors held on for the win as John Carr tallied a 7-4 decision at 174 before 184 lbs. Sean McCracken sealed the win with a pin at 1:51 of his match for a 27-11 lead. Charles Deighton and Stanley Foster concluded the match with 9-0 major decisions in the 197 and 285-pound matches for the 35-11 final.

Franklin & Marshall (0-1) will continue the season on December 11 at home versus the United States Naval Academy. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
