#22 Navy Sinks Franklin & Marshall 34-12 in Wrestling

LANCASTER, PA - The United States Naval Academy used forfeits at 125 and 184 lbs., a technical fall at 149 lbs, major decisions at 133 and 197 lbs, a decision at heavyweight and a pin fall at 141 lbs. as the #22 ranked Midshipmen defeated Franklin & Marshall College 34-12 in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) action.

Navy (4-0) took a 21-0 lead to open the match as Alex Uszitcs picked up a forfeit victory at 125 lbs., #17 ranked Sam Gray tallied an 11-2 major decision at 133 lbs., #14 ranked Nate Gulosh recorded a pin fall in 2:52 at 141 lbs. and John Cox notched a 17-1 technical fall at 149 lbs.

The Diplomats (0-2) pulled to within 15 points as Mike Parziale (Jr., Woburn, MA/Woburn) pinned Ethan Heben in 3:28 to win the 157 lbs. match to up his record this season to 10-2.

The victory marked the 57th of Parziale's career (57-20) as he moved into a tie with Jeff Root '93 (57-46-0) for 15th in career victories at Franklin & Marshall College.

F&M inched closer in the next two bouts as Matt Veres (Jr., Phillipsburg, NJ/Blair Academy) defeated Craig Dziewiatkowski 4-1 at 165 lbs. and Isaiah Hankel (Sr., Newman Lake, WA/East Valley Spokane) handled Cody Rapp ay 174 by a 14-7 final to cut the lead to 21-12 with three matches remaining in the meet.

However, Navy rallied to close out the win as Jon Kane picked up a victory by forfeit at 184 to push the Naval Academy's margin to 27-12 and clinch the Midshipmen's fourth dual meet win of the season following victories over California State (23-12 W), #13 California Polytechnic (26-16 W) and #21 California-Bakersfield (23-19 W).

Andrew Adams won 19-5 at 197 lbs. and #19 ranked Tanner Garrett earned a 10-5 victory at heavyweight to close out competition.

Historically, Navy holds an 18-0 lead in the all-time series against F&M dating back to the first meeting in 1952.

Franklin & Marshall (0-2) will continue the season on December 28-29 at the Midlands Tournament and Wilkes Open.
