LANCASTER, PA -- The Franklin & Marshall College men's squash team defeated Wesleyan and Rochester by scores of 8-1.
Against Rochester, the Diplomats coasted to an 8-1 victory behind a 3-0 (9-0, 9-0, 9-0) sweep at #5 by Hassan Ahmed (Sr., Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison College) over Bill Ferzoco.
Rochester's sole victory came at #2 as Dave Easwaren battled George Edwards (So., Bryn Mawr, PA/Harriton) for a 3-2 win (9-6, 3-9, 9-5, 1-9, 10-8).
The victory marks F&M's 21st straight over Rochester as the Yellow Jackets are now 4-28 all-time against Franklin & Marshall.
Versus Wesleyan, F&M cruised to its eighth win of the season courtesy a strong showing by the top of the lineup as #1 Mihir Kapoor (Sr., Mumbai, India/Doon School) dominated Benson Gillespie to take a 9-4, 9-0, 9-0 win as Franklin & Marshall captured six of the nine matches by 3-0 scores. For Wesleyan, James Utterback was the team's sole victor as he downed Evan Burton (So., Atlanta, GA/Cranbrook Kingswood) 9-4, 9-7, 9-5.
Historically, the wins raise Franklin & Marshall head coach John Stallings career victory total to 201 tying him with F&M Hall of Fame coach and athletic director Bill Marshall (201-113) for the all-time program lead. Overall, Stallings now boasts a career record of 201-130.
Franklin & Marshall (8-5) will return to the courts on February 7 at Amherst College versus Amherst, Bates and Bowdoin.
