WASHINGTON D.C. -- Rich Gebauer (So., South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and RP Norley (Jr., Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) both recorded pins as the Franklin & Marshall College wrestling team defeated American University 31-16 in EIWA wrestling action.

The Diplomats took control of the meet at 133 lbs. as Gebauer took down AU's Eric Levine and rolled him up for a pin in 4:00 minutes to put Franklin & Marshall in front 6-3.

F&M built the lead to 9-3 at 141 lbs. as Joe Perretta (So., Havertown, PA/Haverford) outlasted Daniel Lobsenz 10-7.

American responded by taking the 149 lbs. bout, but F&M took four of the next six bouts, including forfeit wins for 157 lbs. Mike Parziale (So., Woburn, MA/Woburn) and 174 lbs. Nate Schy (Sr., Willow Grove, PA/Hatboro Horsham).

The Diplomats capped the meet at 197 lbs. as Norley pinned Adam Montgomery in 2:22 to secure the win and improve the team's record to 12-7 on the year.

Overall, the team's record marks the most victories by a Franklin & Marshall wrestling team since the 1990 team finished 12-11. The Diplomats have a chance to break the program's all-time single season wins mark of 15 wins established by the 1980 team (15-3).

Franklin & Marshall College will return to the mat on February 21 at home in the Mayser Center versus Gardner Webb and Kutztown University. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
