LANCASTER, PA - Mihir Kapoor (Sr., Mumbai, India/Doon School) tied Jeff Simonton '81 for 11th place in career wins with 63 as the Franklin & Marshall College men's squash team torpedoed Navy 6-3.
Kapoor led an F&M domination of the first three matches as he recorded a 3-0 (9-1, 9-3, 9-3) victory over Gavin Morrison at #1. George Edwards (So., Bryn Mawr, PA/Harriton) picked up a 3-0 (9-3, 9-4, 9-1) win at #2 over Scott Hackman and Satyajit Seshadri (Fr., Chennai, India/Gill Adarsh) downed Mike Brennan 3-0 (9-2, 9-0, 9-2) at #3.
At #4, Navy's Mason Berry rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the match and record the victory with 9-6 and 9-3 wins in the fourth and fifth sets, respectively, in a marathon 3-2 victory over Ed Bryan (So., Kotonah, NY/Choate).
The Diplomats sealed the match with wins at #5-7 as Hassan Ahmed (Sr., Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison College) defeated Mike Rogers 3-1 (5-9, 9-1, 9-7, 9-2) at #5, Jake van Roden (Sr., Villanova, PA/Berkshire) dropped Dhruv Parashar 3-0 (9-0, 10-8, 9-1) at #6 and Karan Behal (Sr., Gandhidham, India/Lawrence School) stopped Dave Hicks 3-2 (9-5, 3-9, 6-9, 9-4, 9-3) at #7.
The victory snaps a three match losing streak by Franklin & Marshall to Navy as the Diplomats last defeated the Midshipmen on February 27, 2000 by a 5-4 final at the NIRSA Tournament hosted by Yale.
F&M (10-9) will continue the season on February 27 at the NISRA National Team Tournament at Yale University.
