PITTSBURGH, PA - Rich Gebauer (Sr., South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and Mike Parziale (Jr., Woburn, MA/Woburn) went 2-1 as the Diplomats fell to Pittsburgh (46-5 L), Duquesne (37-12 L) and Eastern Michigan (41-15 L) in wrestling at Duquesne University.
Against Pittsburgh, Gebauer fell to Mike Ciotti 8-2 at 133 lbs., while Parziale lost in 4-3 to Matt Kocher at 157 lbs. Andrew Smith (Fr., Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was the team's victor in the match pinning Julian Warshaw in 3:41 at 149 lbs.
Versus Duquesne, Gebauer knocked off Keith Paylekoveky 7-3 while Parziale picked up a forfeit and 141-lbs. Aviel Ayoung (Jr., Brooklyn, NY/Poly Prep Country Day) earned an 8-6 decision over Bernie Lynch in overtime.
Against Eastern Michigan, Gebauer received a forfeit while Parziale pinned Ryan Furniss in 3:45. In addition to Gebauer and Parziale, heavyweight Shawn Coughlin (So., Berkley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) took a 10-9 decision in double overtime over Charlie Walker to account for F&M's points.
Franklin & Marshall (3-9) will return to the mat on January 29 at Campbell University. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
