Millersville Manages Franklin & Marshall 32-15 in Wrestling

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College's Mike Parziale (Jr., Woburn, MA/Woburn) improved to 31-6 on the season and 78-24 for his career as he knocked off Nick Foley 14-6 for a major decision at 157 lbs., but Millersville used three decisions, a fall, a forfeit, a technical fall and an injury default to outlast the Diplomats 32-15 in the regular season wrestling finale at Pucillo Gymnasium.

The victory moves Parziale into a tie with Brendan James '98 for the second most single season victories in school history as James recorded a 31-11 record in 1996. Further, he moves to within one win of tying Jim Nalbone '94 (79-33) for fourth on the career wins list at the College.

The teams traded forfeits to open the match as Millersville's Adam Bunting picked up a forfeit at 125 lbs. before Rich Gebauer (Sr., South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) notched a victory by forfeit at 133 lbs.

Gebauer's victory improves his career record to 55-33 as he moves into a tie with Bryon Magill '96 (55-26) and Jon Koteski '96 (55-47-1) for 17th in career wins at the College.

Cody Becker and Shawn Blanchard gave Millersville a 12-6 lead with one-point decisions at 141 and 149 lbs., respectively.

Following Parziale's victory to cut the lead to 12-10, the Diplomats took their only lead of the match as Matt Veres (Jr., Phillipsburg, NJ/Blair Academy) recorded a 21-6 (6:33) major decision over Jesse Gronlie to put Franklin & Marshall in front 15-12 with four matches remaining.

But it was all Millersville thereafter, as Yeager scored the go-ahead fall, junior Mark Knock won by injury default at 184 lbs and Jeremy Wampler tallied a 23-7 technical fall at 197 lbs. to extend the MU lead to 29-15. Heavyweight Mike Davidowich closed the match with a 5-4 decision for the 32-15 final score.

The loss marks Franklin & Marshall's second of the season to Millersville as the Diplomats dropped a 32-15 match on January 15 at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Virginia.

Franklin & Marshall (3-16) will return to the mat on March 4-5 at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
