The Franklin and Marshall wrestling team dropped a pair of E.I.W.A. matches Saturday, losing to a pair of opponents from the Ivy League. The Diplomats (7-6, 1-5 EIWA) fell 28-10 to Brown, and 29-15 to host, Harvard.
Brown took six of the ten weight classes running out to a 19-0 lead over the first five bouts before Justin Herbert finally got the Diplomats on the board with a 8-0 major decision of Bran Crudden at 165. F&M's other six points came from decisions at 197 and heavyweight by Shawn Logue and Nico Somers.
Somers picked up a major decision in the loss to Harvard, making him the only Diplomat grappler to go 2-0 on the afternoon. Somers record improved to 17-3. The Diplomats led Harvard 8-0 after wins at 125 and 133. Jake Bucha won by technical fall at 125 followed by an Austin Reed decision, but the Crimson took six of the next seven bouts, including pins at 141 and 157 surrounding a technical fall at 149.
The losses drop F&M's record to 7-6. The Diplomats return to action on Friday against SUNY-Binghamton for the final home match of the season.
