TOWSON, Md. -- - Franklin & Marshall dropped a pair of one-run softball contests to Villa Julie on Sunday. The Mustangs (6-8) took the first game 2-1, and followed that with a 4-3 win in the nightcap. F&M dropped to 3-11 on the season, while Villa Julie moved to 6-8.

The Diplomats let a 3-1 lead get away in the second game. Villa cut it to one in the fifth when Jessica O'Neill doubled to centerfield, driving in the inning's leadoff batter, Samantha Rice. Still trailing a run in the seventh, the Mustangs posted a pair of runs on as many hits, but it wasn't bats that plated runs. With the bases loaded, Lindsay Mueller absorbed a Meredith Morgan (Phoenixville, PA / Owen J. Roberts) pitch plating the game-tying run. A wild pitch brought home the game-winning run.

Morgan fell to 0-2 on the season having allowed a pair on three hits over two-and-two thirds. F&M starter, Ali Tyler (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) worked the first four innings allowing a pair of runs on six hits before yielding the circle. Kathleen Clinchy (Katonah, NY / Somers) and Lauren Incorvaia (Manalapan, NJ / St. John Vianney) each went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the second game. Clinchy drove in a run.

Despite having limited the Mustangs to four hits in the opener, Bonnie Courthamel (Chatham, NJ / Chatham) was left without run support, falling to 2-4 on the year. Sarah Moelter limited F&M to an equal number of hits. Both pitchers struck out five and issued one walk.

Jessica Feldman (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) scored on an Incorvaia sacrifice fly in the first inning for the Diplomats only run. The Mustangs matched that run when Liz Penniman's triple scored O'Neill. Penniman scored the game-winning run in the fourth having led off the frame with a walk. Moleter aided her own cause with a double to drive her in.

With the losses, F&M falls to 3-11 on the season. The Diplomats are slated to meet Elizabethtown on Tuesday in Lancaster.
