LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's
women's squash team avenged an early season shutout, defeating
Haverford 5-4 at home on Saturday. The Diplomats swept the top five
positions, with four players posting 3-0 wins.
No. 1 Davinia Buckley
dropped the first game to Vanessa Sergeon before rallying to win in
four (3-9, 9-6, 9-2, 9-4). Buckley, along with No. 2 Amanda Lesko, and
No. 3, Tracey
Sole, were not present for the prior meeting back in November.
Lesko and Sole each won their matches 3-0, as did No. 4 Courtney
Mulligan, and No. 5, Kelsey Tylus. Sarah
Gilarsky gave Lesko all she could handle in the first game, which
Lesko won 10-9. The Diplomats' senior finished with a 9-6, 9-0,
effort to run her winning streak to three matches. Mulligan also
won her third consecutive match, dropping Betsy Schmidt 9-3, 9-4,
9-1.
Tylus won her second in as many outings, knocking off Devon
Hircher 9-3, 9-3, 9-6. Franklin & Marshall has now won two
matches in a row, and is 2-12 on the season. Haverford fell to 1-8.
The Diplomats return to action next week at the Howe Cup at
Princeton.
