Women's Squash Takes Second Straight

Agate

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team avenged an early season shutout, defeating Haverford 5-4 at home on Saturday. The Diplomats swept the top five positions, with four players posting 3-0 wins.

No. 1 Davinia Buckley dropped the first game to Vanessa Sergeon before rallying to win in four (3-9, 9-6, 9-2, 9-4). Buckley, along with No. 2 Amanda Lesko, and No. 3, Tracey Sole, were not present for the prior meeting back in November.

Lesko and Sole each won their matches 3-0, as did No. 4 Courtney Mulligan, and No. 5, Kelsey Tylus. Sarah Gilarsky gave Lesko all she could handle in the first game, which Lesko won 10-9. The Diplomats' senior finished with a 9-6, 9-0, effort to run her winning streak to three matches. Mulligan also won her third consecutive match, dropping Betsy Schmidt 9-3, 9-4, 9-1.

Tylus won her second in as many outings, knocking off Devon Hircher 9-3, 9-3, 9-6. Franklin & Marshall has now won two matches in a row, and is 2-12 on the season. Haverford fell to 1-8. The Diplomats return to action next week at the Howe Cup at Princeton.
