LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Justin Herbert picked up a pair of falls to break the Diplomats' career pins record, which has stood at 29 since Paul Cassel finished his career back in 1934.

F&M's 174-pound senior recorded first period pins over Sacred Heart's Michael Hartman and American International's Yaakov Bloch. Herbert needed just 23 seconds to finish Hartman and a 1:14 to dispatch Bloch for his 30th career fall. Herbert, who set the single season record for pins at 17 last year, now has seven in his final collegiate campaign. 

Herbert had almost secured the record earlier in the day at the expense of South Dakota State's Scott Elliot. He had the Jackrabbits' 16-2 freshman on the verge of a pin early in the first period before the official broke up his bid with a potentially dangerous call.  Herbert went on to hand Elliot his third loss of the season by way of a 6-3 decision. It was one of only three weight classes won by F&M in the 32-13 loss to SDSU.

Herbert (15-8) was one of four F&M wrestlers who went through the afternoon with an unblemished record as the Diplomats went 1-2 during Saturday's home quad meet. Anthony Bongarzone went 3-0 at 165-pounds with two major decisions and a decision to rise to 10-12 on the year.

Freshmen Matt Fullowan and Colin Ely each went 2-0 for the Diplomats with wins over their opponents from Sacred Heart and American International. Fullowan earned a pair of 6-4 decisions at 184-pounds to raise his record to 6-8 on the season.  Ely posted a 7-5 decision over Ricky Eichenlaub of Sacred Heart and a 10-2 major of American International's Morgan Wanzer. Ely is now 7-11 this season.

Matt Murray, Nico Somers and Frank Higgins each recorded a win on the afternoon. Higgins gained his first collegiate victory by way of 26-9 technical fall of American International's Gonzalo Carazo.

At the end of the day's action, the Diplomats (2-8) defeated American International (4-9) 30-18 following a 28-15 loss to Sacred Heart (5-3). South Dakota State swept the day to move to 4-3-1 on the year.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on the 23rd when the Diplomats host East Stroudsburg in EIWA action.
