BOSTON -- Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team defeated
Colby 7-2 in the Walker Division of the College Squash Association
Team Championships Saturday afternoon. The win avenges a 5-4 loss
suffered against the Mules (8-12) at the Smith/Holyoke Round Robin
back in January, and earns the Diplomats (8-10) the right to face
Columbia on Sunday for 21st place in the final team
standings.
F&M's No. 1 Morgan Smith evened the score in her sibling
rivalry, posting a 3-0 win over her sister Samantha Smith, 9-0,
9-3, 9-1. Morgan (7-1) only allowed four points in avenging her
only loss of the season. She fell to her sister in five games
during the regular season meeting.
The Diplomats No. 2 Ellie Foster (8-10) also turned the tables.
After falling 3-0 to Catherine Monrad, Foster returned the favor
with a 3-0 sweep of Monrad, 9-6, 10-8, 10-8. Gabby Robinson (5-13)
reversed her fortunes with a 3-0 sweep of Jae Paik, 9-5, 9-3, 10-9,
as did Tonya Arora (8-9), who swept Jessica Kravetz, 9-4, 9-6, 9-0.
Courtney Mulligan (7-4), Kelsey Tylus (8-10), and Dana Russo
(7-4) each stayed unscathed against Colby opponents this season.
The Diplomats return to action tomorrow morning against Columbia
at 11:30 am.
