PHILADELPHIA – The pair of Franklin & Marshall
wrestlers who made their way to Sunday's portion of the 105th
Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) were each
bumped from the tournament in their first match on Sunday.
174-pound senior, Justin Herbert, and 197-pound freshman, Colin
Ely were bumped out. Herbert dropped a 9-6 decision to Shane Riccio
of Bucknell during the consolation quarterfinals. Riccio went on to
earn the bronze in the weight class.
Herbert owns a career record of 82-37 with a school record of 35
pins. He ranks fifth on the F&M career wins list, one victory
ahead of Mike Parziale '06 and one behind Hall of Famer, Vic
Bernardino '94.
Ely finished his first season at 11-17 after being pinned by
Brown's Branden Stearns.
Franklin & Marshall placed 13th amongst the 14 teams
competing. The Diplomats scored 8.5 team points, to finish ahead of
Princeton. East Stroudsburg placed 12th with 15.5 points. Cornell
captured the team championship (138), followed by Lehigh (103).
Bucknell and Penn tied for third with 79 points each.
