LANCASTER, Pa -- Columbia won the final seven bouts to earn a
36-9 win over Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon in an EIWA
meet. The Diplomats fell to 0-8-1 (0-4 EIWA) while the Lions
improved to 5-4-1 (1-1).
After surrendering a forfeit to start the meet at 125, the
Diplomats picked up their only points on the day in the next two
bouts.
Jake Bucha (15-4), wrestling for the first time since the Wilkes
Open in December, used a reversal in the third period, and riding
time, to earn a 3-0 decision over Andrew Grabfelder at 133.
Matt Murray (3-11) put F&M up 9-6 when he decked Ryan Doyle
in 2:21. Murray used a takedown, followed immediately by a cradle,
to get the pin.
Columbia received bonus points in 5, of the last six, contested
contests.
Steve Santos (149), Eren Civan (165), Lou Miller (197) and Kevin
Lester (285) all earned major decision while Matt Dunn (157) picked
up a technical fall.
The Diplomats return to mat on Thursday at Kutztown.
