PRINCETON, N.J. – #3 Princeton handed #10 Franklin & Marshall an 8-1 setback in men's squash on Saturday. The match was far tighter than the score indicates.
Two matches went five games, and even where the Tigers got a rare sweep, every point was a battle. Princeton's Christopher Callis and F&M's Mauricio Sedano needed 36 points to settle the first game of Callis' 3-0 win.
Gabriel and Guilherme de Melo each won the first game in their matches at No. 1 and 2 before their opponents rallied for 3-1 wins.
Juan Lopez fended off the shutout in a five game win, 8-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7, over Phillip Sopher at No. 5. Jesus Pena needed five games to knock off the Diplomats Justin Singh. Pena narrowly edged F&M's freshman 5-11, 11-1, 10-12, 11-3, 11-9.
F&M dropped to 1-2 with the loss, while Princeton starts the season at 1-0.
