GENEVA, N.Y. – Franklin & Marshall downed #24 Hobart 9-0 on Sunday to salvage an otherwise disappointing weekend in Upstate New York. Following Friday night's 8-1 loss to #3 Rochester, the #11 Diplomats fell 6-3 to #6 Cornell and 5-4 to #16 St. Lawrence.

Despite the weekend setbacks, the Diplomats (10-8) got a solid weekend's worth of work out of top-man Gabriel de Melo. Fueled by a win over a three-time All-American on Friday night, de Melo (12-5) strung together three more wins to run his winning streak to five matches. de Melo, who has won a dozen of his last 14 matches, fell behind 2-0 to Cornell's Alexander Domenick. He rallied to take the next three before posting easy sweeps of his St. Lawrence and Hobart opponents.

The Diplomats' #2 Guillherme de Melo (14-3), won three in a row after a Friday night loss at Rochester. He needed five games to knock off Cornell's Chris Sachive, but took down his next two opponents in three to move to 14-3 on the season.

With two regular season matches left in his career, #4 Sadiq Madraswala (11-6) is two matches shy of becoming the 26th Diplomat to 50 career wins. His lone win this weekend came at Hobart's Luke Esselen's expense. With his first win of the weekend on Sunday, #5 Zarir Aibara (9-8) picked up his 45th career win to move to 45th on the career wins list.
With the loss to the Big Red, F&M is now 26-24 in matches against Cornell. The Diplomats' loss to St. Lawrence was a first for the program, moving the series record to 4-1. F&M is 26-3 against Hobart.

The Diplomats return to action next Saturday against Navy and Williams.
