Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team kicked off the second half of the season with a 1-3 weekend.
The #15 Diplomats (4-7) went 1-2 at the Pioneer Valley Invitational with a 6-3, Saturday win over #19 Wesleyan. F&M opened the Invitational with a Friday night loss to #14 Amherst, 9-0, and fell 8-1 to #12 Bates on Saturday. F&M closed out the weekend with a 9-0 loss to #8 Dartmouth.
Gabby Robinson picked up the 20th win of her career on the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Wesleyan's Jenny Chu, 12-10, 11-6, 11-6. Robinson joins fellow junior, Morgan Smith, as the only Diplomats on the roster with 20 career wins.
F&M's No. 2, Chelsea Ross, staved off the shutout against Bates defeating Mimi Neal in five, 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-6. It was one of three matches that went to a fifth game against Bates. No. 3 Roxanna Mead played Ashley Brooks to five before succumbing 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 12-10, 6-11, while the Bobcats' Ali Bragg handed Katherine Barnes a 7-11, 11-4, 11-4, 8-11, 15-13 setback at No. 4. Barnes and Mead each picked up wins over their opponents from Wesleyan.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action Friday night in New Haven, Conn., against Yale and Colby.
