Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team went 2-2 on the weekend posting victories over Colby and Bowdoin Colleges, while suffering losses to #2 Yale and #3 Trinity. The 16th-ranked Diplomats (6-9) have now faced seven of the nation's top ten teams without a victory, but has beaten every opponent they have faced ranked 15th or higher.
F&M fell 9-0 to Yale (8-0) at Yale on Friday to start the weekend, but bounced back with an 8-1 win over #20 Colby (4-8) on Friday night. The Diplomats followed that with another 8-1 win over a team representing Maine and the NESCAC, #21 Bowdoin (2-8) before closing out the weekend with a 9-0 loss to Trinity (8-1).
The Diplomats got wins in every position in the lineup from the third through ninth position in the wins over Colby and Bowdoin. That group of players included (3) Roxanna Mead, (4) Katie Barnes, (5) Sheena Suckoo, (6) Gabby Robinson, (7) Elizabeth Gatling, (8) Stephanie Tzarnas, and (9) Hannah Davis. Aleka Woods picked up a pair of wins in exhibition play.
The win over Colby marks a reversal in fortune for F&M, which fell 7-2 to Colby in last year's meeting. The Diplomats have now beaten Bowdoin in each of the last three meetings.
F&M Returns to action on February 5 at George Washington University.
