LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 7 Dartmouth edge out a 5-4 victory over No. 8 Franklin & Marshall in men's squash action Sunday afternoon. The Big Green improved to 3-0 while F&M fell to 0-2.
The top-five matches went five games or more and the game-deciding match came down to No. 1 singles. F&M's Gabriel de Melo and Dartmouth's Chris Hanson didn't disappoint, going the distance in five games. de Melo took games one and three while Hanson came out on top in the second and fourth game. Hanson got the better of de Melo in the fifth game, 11-6, to secure the win for Dartmouth.
Guilherme de Melo defeated Nick Sisodia, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9 at No. 2 and Maurico Sedan took down Luke Lee in four games in No. 3 action. The Big Green took wins in No. 4 through No. 7 and F&M won in No. 8 and No. 9 singles action.
Alex Arjoon and Ryan Mullaney both went the distance, before losing in the fifth game. Sutja Barua defeated Fletcher Pease in three games while Pat Cunningham picked up a 3-0 victory in No. 9 action.
F&M returns to action on Dec. 3 when the Diplomats host Yale and Bates.
