COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Franklin & Marshall opened its 2011-12 campaign with a quartet of matches at the Terrapin Duals hosted by Maryland in College Park on Sunday. The Diplomats dropped all four matches of the season-opening dual meet, falling to Bloomsburg (27-10), West Virginia (41-0), Johns Hopkins (18-16) and 11th-ranked Maryland (39-3).

Freshman Richard Durso was impressive in his collegiate debut for the Diplomats, posting victories in three of the four matches at 141-pounds, all by decision, to lead the way for F&M. Durso took down Bloomsburg's Matt Rappo, 3-0, and Hopkins' Duncan Crystal, 6-3, before earning the lone points in F&M's loss to Maryland with an 8-5 triumph over the Terrapins' Lou Mascola.

Kenny Knapp and Colin Ely also notched wins against Bloomsburg. Knapp won at 133 with a 4-2 decision against Nick Wilcox, while Ely posted a 16-3 major decision at 197 over Sam Shirey.

Against Hopkins, Andrew Murano, Adam Schroeder and Matt Fullowan each joined Durso in the victory column. Murano defeated Henry Stauber at 149, 10-4, Shroeder blanked Jody Gowen, 12-0, for a major decision win at 165, while Fullowan pinned Evan Johnson in 6:49 at 174 for F&M.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Drexel at 7:00 pm.
