WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eighth-ranked Franklin & Marshall swept George Washington University 9-0 on the Colonials Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts on Saturday. The victory secured the Diplomats (10-5) third consecutive season with 10 or more wins.
The Colonials (13-6) Islam El-Fiky gave Gabriel de Melo (8-3) a run for his money, taking the first two games and pushing the Diplomats' top player to the brink in the fourth, 11-13, 9-11, 11-4, 12-10, 11-9. Giullherme de Melo (10-5) was also forced to five in the second position, defeating Omar Sobhy 4-11, 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6.
F&M posted 3-0 sweeps in six matches to polish off the Colonials.
The Diplomats return to action next Friday night against Rochester.
