Box Score READING, Pa.—Carley Nicholson scored her first goal of the season in the 22nd minute Wednesday for the only goal of the game, as Franklin & Marshall defeated Penn State-Berks 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer action. With the win, the Diplomats now have a three game winning streak.
Nicholson collected a pass from Stephanie Bartner, and drove the ball through traffic and into the top right corner of the net. The Diplomats (3-2-1) outshot the Nittany Lions (4-4-1) 12-6 overall, and 9-3 in shots on goal. The Diplomats also held a 7-4 advantage in corners.
Nicholson had three shots on goal for the game to lead the Diplomat offense. Bartner and Nancy Epstein had two apiece. Libby Nichols and co-captain Bailey Huber each had one shot on net.
Amanda McGowan made three saves in posting her third straight shutout; raising her record to 3-2-1.
Franklin & Marshall will be back on the field on Saturday, with a Centennial Conference (CC) game against Bryn Mawr at 11 a.m.
