Grant Breaks Two School Records; Diplomats Defeat Bears

LANCASTER, Pa. - Katherine Grant set new school records in the 1000 and 1650 freestyles as the Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team defeated Ursinus, 121-84, in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats have now won four straight and move to 5-2 overall and 5-0 in the CC, while the Bears fall to 4-4 overall and 1-1 CC.

F&M took first place in seven of the 11 events on the afternoon to take down the visiting Bears and remain unblemished in CC action.

The 200 medley relay grouping of Caitlyn Fuller, Christina Werner, Jackie Behr and Krista Hollingsworth captured first with a mark of 1:55.96 to give the Diplomats the advantage from the start.

Grant then broke the F&M school marks in both the 1000 (10:31.92) and the 1650 (17:30.13) freestyles en route to victory in the 1650. Olivia Hill, who previously held the record in the 1650, secured second in the race with a time of 18:07.57, while Garland Bartlett completed the top-three sweep for the Diplomats at 18:44.11.

Katherine DeCrosta also posted an impressive day for the Diplomats with two individual first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:16.62) and 100 breastroke (1:11.92), while also teaming with Ana Franzluebbers, Charlotte Katter and Grant to secure top honors in the 200 freestyle relay.

Along with DeCrosta's top finish in the 100 breastroke, Werner (2nd/1:13.35) and Rebecca Citti (3rd/1:14.06) also delivered top-three placings. Kasey Christiansen joined DeCrosta in the top-three in the 200 IM with a third-place finish at 2:22.86.

Hollingsworth also registered a top placing on the afternoon for F&M, grabbing first in the 100 freestyle in 55.62, with Grant taking third in 57.19. Hollingworth also finished second in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.52, with Maggie Johns close behind in third at 2:01.49. Behr secured second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.89.

Johns was victorious in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:21.52, while Hill took second in 5:29.19. Johns also placed second in the 200 butterfly in 1:04.00.

In the 100 backstroke, Fuller nabbed first with a time of 1:03.98.

The Diplomats return to the pool next Saturday, Jan. 28 as they host CC foe Dickinson at 1:00 pm.
