NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 15 Franklin & Marshall fell to No. 2 Yale 9-0 on Friday night in the opening match of its weekend trip. The Diplomats fall to 2-2 with the defeat, while the Bulldogs open their season at 1-0.
The Bulldogs captured each nine spots in straight games to earn the 9-0 victory. Emily Caldwell put up a valiant effort at No. 1 against Yale's Katie Ballaine, falling with scores of 11-7, 11-7, 11-7. Cris Margaret Frias had the closest single-game score for the Diplomats with an 11-8 loss in the second game, but ultimately fell 11-3, 11-8, 11-3 to Anna Harrison.
The Diplomats are back in action tomorrow against St. Lawrence and Dartmouth at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
