PRINCETON, N.J. - Guilherme de Melo posted the lone Franklin & Marshall victory for the second straight day as the No. 8 Diplomats fell to No. 5 Rochester, 8-1, in the consoloation bracket of the College Squash Association (CSA) Potter Cup (A Division) Championships on Saturday at Princeton. The Diplomats drop to 11-8 with the loss, while the Yellow Jackets move to 10-5.
At the No. 2 position, de Melo cruised past Andres Duany in four games. After de Melo took the first two games 11-3, 11-4, Duany got on the board with an 11-4 triumph of his own in game three. de Melo then sealed the deal with an 11-3 game four win to notch the only point for the Diplomats.
Gabriel de Melo (No. 1) and Alex Arjoon (No. 4) both stretched their opponents to four games in a losing effort. Benjamin Fischer downed de Melo at No. 1, 11-8, 11-8, 4-11, 11-4, while Arjoon fell to Adam Perkiomaki at No. 4 by an 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-6 count.
The Diplomats return to action on Sunday against No. 7 Dartmouth in the consolation playoff match at 3:00 pm.
