ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Ryan Mullaney secured the lone victory of the day at the No. 4 position as the eighth-ranked Franklin & Marshall men's squash team dropped an 8-1 decision at fifth-ranked Rochester on Saturday. The Diplomats fall to 8-6 with the loss, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-4.
Mullaney defeated Adam Perkiomaki in the only match that went five games on the afternoon. The sophomore took the first game, 11-8, but Perkiomaki nabbed 13-11 and 11-4 triumphs in games three and four, respectively. Mullaney then finished off the only win of the day for F&M with 11-8, 11-4 scores in the final two games.
The Diplomats put forth strong challenges at the No. 6 and No. 8 spots as Sujat Barua (No. 6) and Freddy Hernandez (No. 8) each pushed their opponents to four games. Barua fell to Oscar Lopez Hidalgo (8-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-4), while Hernandez came up short against Mohammed Abdel Maksoud (11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6).
F&M will wrap up its road weekend on Sunday at Hobart at 12:30 pm.
