Durso Falls in Opening Round of NCAA Championships

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Richard Durso fell 4-2 to Ohio State's Hunter Stieber in his first match of the 2012 NCAA Wrestling National Championships on Thursday. With the loss, Durso moves into the consolation bracket and will take on Evan Henderson of North Carolina tonight at 6:30 pm. Henderson lost to Zack Kemmerer of Penn by a 6-2 deicsion in his opening match.

Stieber came out strong with a takedown in the first 11 seconds of the first period, but Durso quickly escaped to make it 2-1.  Stebier managed an escape midway through period two and took a 3-1 lead heading into the decisive period.

Durso chose bottom to start the third, and escaped a minute in to come within a point, 3-2, with a little over a minute left to wrestle. Stieber drew a stalling warning as Durso attempted multiple takedowns, but time would down and Steiber picked a riding time point to take the 4-2 victory.
