COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team dropped a 136-69 decision against Centennial Conference (CC) opponent Ursinus on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats' record fell to 5-3, 3-2 CC, while the Bears improved to 7-2, 3-2 CC.
Katherine Grant picked up the single victory of the meet for F&M when she outlasted the pack in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:39.26. Teammate Alexia Tomlinson was close behind, placing second with a time of 18:42.13.
Grant also earned two second-place finishes in the competition, ending the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.21 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.35.
Krista Hollingsworth had two second-place finishes as well for the Diplomats, with a strong showing in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.
Hollingsworth finished the 50 free a mere .06 seconds behind the leader and narrowly missed a victory in the 100 free by finishing .96 seconds behind Corinne Capodanno of Ursinus.
F&M returns to action Saturday against CC-opponent Dickinson. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
