LEHIGH, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team brought home a third-place finish in the college white race of the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday afternoon, good for its best finish at the event in school history.
The meet was broken down into three levels with gold being the highest, followed by brown and white. Squads submitted times for their runners to seed teams between the three.
The Diplomats averaged a time of 27:52 for the third-place spot out of 42 teams, trailing only Muhlenberg and Juniata who both averaged a time of 27:34. The Mules captured first with 131 points.
Bryan Andrews paced F&M with a time of 27:31 and a 23rd place finish, followed by teammate Michael Whalen in 27th place and a time of 27:36. Brett Kubiak of Gwynedd Mercy captured the title, crossing the line at 25:35.
Luk Olenginski was third to finish for the Diplomats with a 43rd place showing at 28:02, followed closely by J.T. Paganelli in 44th with a time of 28:03 and Greg Olenginski in 51st at 28:08. James Hamilton (28:12) and Brien Miceli (29:02) rounded out the F&M squad.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday to compete against Delaware at White Clay Creek State Park. The meet is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
