LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall defeated Bryn Mawr 115-75 Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action to earn its first victory of the season. The Diplomats moved to 1-1, 1-0 CC, while the Owls fell to 0-1, 0-1 CC.
Jillian Albus captured two events on the day for the Diplomats. Albus placed first in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:01.98 and took the 100-yard freestyle at 54.93. She was also a part of the first-place finishing 200-yard medley relay team that touched the wall first at 1:56.23.
Rebecca Daen placed first in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.42 and Alexia Tomlinson touched first in the 100-yard freestyle at 11.01.27. Caitlyn Fuller added a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, while Courtney Collins finished first with a time of 1:04.12 in the 100-yard butterfly.
The Owls took away four first-place finishes on the day. Ruth Logan placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:04.50, while Angela Mastrianni won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.63.
Judy Yeung won the tight 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.29 finishing under a second in front of F&M's Taylor Mateja. Finally, a quartet of Owls won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:58.83. The swimmers included Phoebe Jordan, Ruth Logan, Abby Johnson, and Rachael Koone.
F&M returns to action Saturday when the Diplomats host Swarthmore at 2:00 p.m.
