LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall cruised past Swarthmore 129-75 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action. The victory improved the Diplomats' record to 2-1, 2-1 CC, while the Garnet fell to 0-2, 0-2 CC.
Three Diplomat swimmers earned a pair of first-place finishes on the day. Katherine Grant won the 1000-yard freestyle when she touched the wall at 10:54.17 and the 500-yard freestyle where she finished with a time of 5:19.60. Jillian Albus (25.05) won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle (54.92).
Maggie Johns also secured two first-place victories including the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.22) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.77), where she beat Swarthmore's Jessica Seigel by a quarter of a second.
A team of Courtney Collins, Caitlyn Fuller, Albus and Rebecca Daen recorded the Diplomats' first win of the afternoon in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:10.44.
F&M closed out the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay when a team of Daen, Alexia Tomlinson, Leeza Rojas and Grant (3:46.82) touched the wall first for an F&M victory.
The Diplomats return to the pool Saturday when F&M heads to Washington for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
