Durso Takes Fourth at Midlands

EVANSTON, Ill. – Richard Durso rattled off three-straight wins for the Franklin & Marshall wrestling team in the consolation bracket at the 51st Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern University on Monday, en route to a fourth-place showing at the prestigious tournament.

The junior 141-pounder advanced all the way to the third-place match but would have to settle for fourth after falling to Josh Dziewa of Iowa, who is ranked No. 13 in the nation, by a 3-1 score.

Overall for the tournament, Durso finished with a 5-2 mark to bring his overall record 18-2 on the year. After falling to Dziewa in the quarterfinals of yesterday's championship bracket, Durso began Monday's afternoon session with a 5-3 decision over Purdue's Danny Sabatello.

Durso followed with a narrow 2-0 decision over the bracket's No. 10 seed Ryan Fillingame before squaring off with Northwestern's own Pat Greco. Tied at 1-1 after three, Durso managed to pick up two points in the sudden victory period to advance into the third-place title bout with a 3-1 win.

The Diplomats return to the mat on Saturday to host the second annual F&M Open. The all day event is scheduled to take place at the Alumni Sport and Fitness Center's Schnader Fieldhouse.
