ANNAPOLIS, Md. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall concluded its regular season with an 8-1 victory over No. 14 Navy on Sunday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 16-4 with the win, while the Midshipmen dropped to 24-7.
No. 2 Mauricio Sedano and No. 3 Ryan Mullaney led the way for the Diplomats with straight-game victories. Sedano downed Jim Kacergis 11-9, 11-3, 11-6, and Mullaney defeated Hunter Beck 11-9, 11-5, 11-7.
Brian Henry stayed hot for the Diplomats, posting his team-high 14th straight win at No. 8 with an 11-5, 11-8, 6-11, 11-3 triumph over Mitch Bottini, while Jack Cutler notched his 11th straight win by downing John Richey at No. 7, 8-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-7.
No. 6 Alex Arjoon and No. 9 Pat Cunningham each prevailed to post their eighth victories in a row. Arjoon topped Bill Kacergis if four, 8-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-7, while Cunningham outlasted John Hsu in five, 5-11, 11-5, 3-11, 11-4, 11-4. No. 1 Guilherme de Melo took down Andrew McGuinness 11-3, 11-7, 8-11, 11-5, and No. 4 Pedro Veiga de Almeida earned a 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 win over Hunter Bouchard.
The Diplomats return to action at the CSA Team Championships on Friday, Feb. 22 at Yale.
