LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 6 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team dropped its first contest of the season in a narrow 6-3 loss against No. 3 Yale on Wednesday afternoon at the Mayser Center. The defeat moved the Diplomats' record to 3-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs remained undefeated at 3-0.
Abhishek Pradhan added to his unblemished record on the year (4-0) with a sweep (11-8,11-5,11-6) of Neil Martin at No. 1. F&M also received a victory on the day from Pedro Veiga de Almeida at the No. 6 spot, when the sophomore outlasted Yale's Eric Caine in four games (7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-5).
At the No. 9 position, Dylan Cunningham tallied one of the Diplomat's three wins on the afternoon with a 12-10, 11-6, 11-5 win over Pehlaaj Bajwa. Mauricio Sedano battled at No. 4 but eventually fell in five games by a 12-14, 11-6, 9-11, 11-3, 11-2 tally.
Wesley "Cole" Osborne took the Bulldog's Sam Fenwick to the wire at No. 2, but fell short by an 11-4, 9-11, 6-11, 11-2, 11-4 mark. At No. 7, Ryan Mullaney nearly added to the Diplomats potential upset bid with a strong showing against Yale's Charlie Wyatt, falling just short by an 11-4, 11-2, 6-11, 7-11, 11-4 score.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to take on No. 1 Trinity at 12:00 p.m.
