Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Franklin & Marshall had to settle for a 1-1 tie to Washington College on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action. The Diplomats moved to 1-13-1, 0-7-1, CC, while the Shorewomen sit at 3-9-3, 0-6-2, CC.
With the game scoreless in the 48th minute of the second half, Megan Rubenstein notched her first goal of the season to give F&M the one-goal advantage.
Just 10 minutes later, in the 58th minute, Washington's Bailey Howard tied the game off an assist from Emani Silva.
In the first overtime, Nicole Rynecki made two shots, however Shorewomen goalie Melissa Barry was there both times to make the stop.
The Diplomat offense continued to get shots off in the second overtime with Rubenstein and Kim Kornbluth each getting shots on goal, however Barry was tough between the pipes, making the three saves that led to the eventual 1-1 tie.
Rubenstein finished with six shots, while Rynecki notched five and Kornbluth recorded four.
Shannon Johnson-Finn (1-8-1) made two saves as the netminder for F&M.
As a team, the Diplomats finished with a season-high 22 shots, while Washington had six. F&M held the edge in corner kicks at 6-3.
The Diplomats are back in action on Tuesday when F&M welcomes Gettysburg to Tylus Field for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
