HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 7 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team opened up its 2014-15 season with a 9-0 blanking of No. 36 Haverford on Friday evening. The Diplomats moved to 1-0 on the year, while the Fords fell to 2-1.
F&M swept all nine matchups, not dropping a game throughout the contest. Gavan Hitchenor earned an 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 win at No. 1, followed by an 11-0, 11-1, 11-5 victory at No. 2 by freshman Michael Sorochev. Brian Henry at No. 3 (11-6, 11-8, 11-6), Christopher Bown at No. 4 (12-10, 11-2, 11-4) and Jackson McCord at No. 5 (11-2, 11-5, 11-2) each cruised to wins.
Ishan Advani (11-6, 11-5, 11-2) rolled at No. 6, while Matt Gagnier (11-3, 11-2, 11-2), Peter Koekkoek (11-3, 11-5, 11-2), and Erik Morque (11-3, 11-0, 11-2) were all strong at the bottom of the order for the Diplomats.
F&M sticks on the road tomorrow, traveling to take on Bowdoin at Trinity College, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
