PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 17 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team suffered a 9-0 setback to No. 5 Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The defeat is the first of the year for the Diplomats, who fell to 3-1, while the Tigers opened up their season at 1-0.
Princeton did not drop a game throughout the contest, rolling to nine shutouts. Freshman Lauren Johnston battled at No. 2, but fell short by a 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-9) score. Dulakshi Elikewela also fought hard in her matchup, dropping a 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-4) contest.
Jazmin Matos (No. 7) fell by an 11-2, 11-1, 11-1 mark, while Cris Margaret Frias Gonzalez played tough at No. 8 with an 11-2, 11-5, 11-6 defeat.
F&M returns home tomorrow for a doubleheader at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats square off against No. 34 Dickinson at 9:00 a.m. before facing No. 9 Columbia at noon.
