BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall easily defeated Bryn Mawr 127-64 on Friday night in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action. The Diplomats improved their record to 2-0, 2-0 CC, while the Owls slipped to 0-2, 0-2 CC.
F&M began the evening in winning fashion, as Taylor Mateja, Melissa Mullin, Courtney Collins, and Katherine Grant earned first-place points in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.98.
Mary Ann Robison continued the first-place finishes for the Diplomats, touching the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:25.43. Collins then placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.75.
F&M dominated the 50-yard freestyle, with Bridget Dromerick (26.56) finishing first, followed by Leeza Rojas (27.59) in second and Cassidy Neuman (28.17) in third, respectively. In the following race, the 200-yard individual medley, Rebecca McCain touched the wall first at 2:24.13.
The Diplomats took the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly, as Mullin placed first at 1:02.02, while Kellen McDonald (1:05.01) and Breann Cavanagh (1:06.06) placed second and third respectively.
Ipeknaz Erel earned the victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.56, followed by Mateja in second at 57.74 and Alyson Campbell in third at 1:00.44.
The 100-yard backstroke was a favorable race for F&M, as Grant placed first with a time of 1:08.27, while Sydney Brannick finished second at 1:11.38 and Neuman touched third at 1:12.68.
Jillian Albus capped off an impressive night for the Diplomats with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.88. Mia Konstantakos earned second-place points at 5:49.89.
F&M returns to action tomorrow when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
