SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall stayed unbeaten, downing Swarthmore 127-78 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action. The Diplomats improved their record to 3-0, 3-0 CC, while the Garnet fell to 1-1, 1-1 CC.
Becca Meyers, Bridget Dromerick, and Melissa Mullin each won two races on the day to lead F&M. Meyers touched first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:57.20, while also winning the 500-yard freestyle at 5:22.19.
Dromerick touched first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.90 and also took home first-place points in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.50).
Mullin won the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.42) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.51) and teamed up with Dromerick, Courtney Collins, and Jillian Albus to finish second in the 400-yard medley relay (4:11.22).
Katherine Grant placed second in two events on the day, which include the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:01.36) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.52). Albus also added two second-place finishes, placing second in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.80, and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.24.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Leeza Rojas earned third-place points at 11:19.53, while she also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.24.
Kellen McDonald placed second in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:17.85, and also earned points for F&M in the 200-yard butterfly with a third-place spot (2:19.01). Meyers finished second in the event at 2:15.49.
Freshman Breann Cavanagh placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.72, and Taylor Mateja finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.59.
In the final event of the day, a team of Cavanagh, Ipeknaz Erel, Rojas and Grant earned a first-place victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:49.55.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M travels to Baltimore, Md. for a meeting with Johns Hopkins at 12:00 p.m.
