NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 12 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team dropped an 8-1 match to No. 4 Yale on Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. The loss brought the Diplomats' record to 4-3 on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 1-0.
Cole Osborne secured F&M's lone win on the day, battling back from an 11-7 loss in his opening game to take three straight (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) en route to a 3-1 win at the No. 1 position. Dylan Cunningham took his opponent to the wire at No. 2, evening the contest at 2-2 after falling in the opening two games, but coming up short by an 11-3 score in the fifth for the narrow 3-2 loss.
Yale captured three-game sweeps at No.'s 3-8, however Christopher Bown battled at the No. 9 spot. Facing a 2-1 deceit (5-11, 11-9, 8-11), Bown earned a controlling 11-5 win in the fourth to even the match at 2-2. However, the Bulldog's Arjun Kochhar sealed the victory with an 11-5 victory in the fifth for the 3-2 decision.
F&M competes in its final match in over a month tomorrow when the Diplomats travel to take on No. 8 Penn. at 1:00 p.m.
