Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Kyra Judge's 63rd-minute tally broke a scoreless tie and handed Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team a 1-0 win against Washington on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) competition.
The Diplomats improved to 6-8-1, 1-5-1 CC while the Shorewomen fell to 5-8-1, 0-7 CC.
Reanna Leoni helped create the game-winning opportunity, sending in a cross to Judge near the midway point of the second half. Washington's defense interrupted the pass, but Judge managed to gather the ball and score the go-ahead goal.
F&M's defense took it from there, limiting the Shorewomen to just one shot in the final 27 minutes of the frame. Nicole Savidge (5-6-1) turned back the only attempt on goal she faced to collect her sixth shutout of the season.
Courtney Colbert (5-8-1) was charged with the loss for Washington after registering four saves and allowing one goal.
Shots belonged to the Diplomats by an 11-4 margin, including a 6-2 edge in the second half. Corners were even at 3-3. Kate Kerr paced the offense with three shots while Margot Rathke and Judge notched two each.
F&M closes out its 2016 season with a pair of home games next week, starting with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Gettysburg on Wednesday.
