STAMFORD, Conn. – Sean Kenny and Cole Osborne both reached the semifinals on day two of the 2016 CSA Individual Championships in Stamford, Conn., but fell just short of the Molloy Division D Draw final to highlight action for Franklin & Marshall men's squash.
Osborne, ranked No. 27, downed Denison's Ziad Elmandouh (No. 60) with a 3-0 sweep (11-6, 11-5, 11-3) to reach the semifinals, where he was edged out by Penn.'s Tom Hayes (No. 24) in a 3-1 loss (11-6, 7-11, 11-3, 11-6).
Also competing in the D Draw, Kenny (No. 36) upset No. 29 Jack Herold of Navy by a thrilling 3-2 tally (8-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9, 11-5) in the quarterfinals. Ahead 2-1 against No. 20 Tom De Mulder of Trinity in the semifinals, Kenny dropped the final two frames in heartbreaking fashion to end his run with a 3-2 defeat (11-8, 9-11, 3-11, 13-11, 13-11).
Pedro Veiga De Almeida also competed for the Diplomats, dropping a 3-0 decision (11-4, 11-9, 11-4) against Cornell's Harry Freeman (No. 25) in the A Draw Quarterfinals.
