AMHERST, Mass. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 13 women's squash team rebounded from a 6-3 loss against No. 16 Bates by edging No. 17 Amherst by a narrow 5-4 score on Saturday afternoon, earning a split at day one of the Amherst Round Robin. 

The Diplomats moved to 4-10 overall on the season with the pair of decisions. 

By the Numbers (Bates) 

Two of F&M's three wins against Bates came at the top of the order with Fiona Murphy coming back from a 2-1 hole with an 11-9 victory in the fifth, while Sherilyn Yang dominated with a 3-0 sweep. 

The defeat improved Bates' overall series lead to 11-5, but was the Bobcats' first since 2013-14.

The Diplomats' top of the ladder continued its strong play as F&M swept all of the No.'s 1-4 matchups. Melissa Epstein (No. 8) secured the Diplomats' other victory on the day, battling back from an 11-6 opening-frame loss to take three straight. 

The win broke a nine-match winless streak against Amherst, dating back to the 2000 season.
